Landing announcement

Some birds are stealthy and fly silently through the skies. Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) would not fit into that category. They like to announce their presence for all to hear, like this pair that I spotted on Monday at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge as they were coming in for a landing.

Unlike at the airport, there was no need for a loudspeaker to announce this landing.

I think these are far more prettier to watch land than airplanes are. 🙂

  I agree. Some folks look at the geese as an annoyance, but i like them, even if they sometimes create a mess.

They do make a racket, and once on the ground, they make a mess, but I enjoy watching them.

We have them on the pond where I work and they are loud!

  Thanks for the wishes, Liz, but I am swamped with things right now and don’t feel like I could put my thoughts together. Perhaps in a couple of months I could do so after things lighten up at work. Perhaps too spring will inspire me.
