When the lighting was as dim as it was Saturday morning at Huntley Meadows Park, it felt like I was shooting in black and white. Fortunately there was a bit of color in the head and eyes of the little male Downy Woodpecker that I spotted high in the trees, framed wonderfully by the surrounding branches.

Lovely pic. We’ve been lucky enough to have one of these chaps visiting out bird table recently. He pinches all the peanuts. Don’t think the blue tits are all that impressed!
Thanks. The little woodpeckers are always so energetic–I love watching them in action.
Hooray for the woodpecker and its splash of colour! Isn’t the weather so crappy right now? I am so over these dull days with their flat light.
I too could use some sunshine. I think we are supposed to get some on Wednesday, one of the days when I will be at work.
Typical!
