As I was going over my photos of my recent encounter with a North American Beaver (Castor canadensis), I was struck by the beautiful quality and color of the early morning light. Sure, it was cool to be able to get some close-up shots of the beaver swimming around, but the light was equally spectacular.
I’ve tried to convey in these two images a sense of the golden glow that surrounded us during the magical moments I shared with this beaver, though somehow the colors seem to get a bit desaturated when I move the image into WordPress.

Wonderful – I also love that golden glow of the early morning sunlight!
The shot looks all the more captivating with that morning light !!!
Thanks. The light was amazing and I was happy that I could at least partially capture its beauty.
Very nice photos, beavers are amazing creatures really:) I have encountered the same problem of images getting desaturated when uploaded, but it’s usually just me using the wrong color profile
Thanks. I think it may be time for me to either use an external monitor (instead of my laptop screen) or get some calibration software to get more consistent color.
Just like silk. That’s what the water reminds me of.
Nice shots!
Magnificent, Mike!
Thanks so much, Nicci.
Their shiny, wet coat makes for a beautiful study in light. Wonderful images, Mike.
Thanks, Donna. I continue to be amazed at the number of wonderful photo opportunities that I manage to stumble into. One of my goals continues to be to improve my skills and reaction time to be better able to take advantage of those opportunties.
