Taking advantage of yesterday’s gorgeous springtime weather, this little Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) took a break from his chores to enjoy a snack and to bask in the warmth of the sun for a few moments.

I like that perch and the big eye. Happy to hear you are getting spring and sunshine.
At long last we have some warm weather, thought there has also been a lot of rain, and daffodils are popping up everywhere.
As usual wonderfully sharp – full of detail
How people warm to The new growth and signs of Spring
Thanks. I see squirrels a lot, but this one caught my eye because of the way the sun was shining on its fur (and it was stationary). I find a special pleasure in shooting ordinary subjects–I don’t feel a real need to go looking for exotic creatures to photograph.
Beautiful. I love watching squirrels and chipmunks.
Poor squirrel, it looks like he had a rough Winter and is ready for Spring.
It has been a colder and snowier winter than usual here in Northern Virginia, but it looks like this squirrel was able to survive and is fattening up for spring.
