I came upon a rock last weekend and my eyes were drawn to its shape and texture and the way that it seemed to be floating in the sky. Normally I don’t shoot abstract shots, but I somehow felt compelled to take this photo. I like the way it turned out—it’s simple and graphic.

Cool shot, Mike! It looks like an alien spaceship cruising in the sky 🙂
Thanks. You commented within seconds of my positing the photo. For me it looks more like an uninhabited island seen from a passing airplane.
I kind of thought it looks like a floating heart..
AT first glance, I thought “island.”
I just came from Phil’s blog and thot it was another alligator.
I’m hoping never to see an alligator in my marsh, though Phil’s photos make me want to move to where he lives (and risk seeing those alligators).
I like that you felt compelled to get this shot-that happens to me a lot and I’m not really a fan of the abstract either. There seems to be something about that moment in time that needs to be preserved, abstract or not, and when I’ve ignored it I’ve regretted it. I’d have to go with an Island for this one.
