The rain has stopped for now, but some raindrops remain, sparkling like tiny jewels this morning on the bearded irises in the garden of my neighbor and fellow photographer Cindy Dyer. I tried to get creative with the framing of the first shot, with a blurred iris in the background of an unopened bud.
In the second shot, I was so close to the bearded iris that you almost can’t tell that the primary subject is a flower—I love my macro lenses. There third and fourth shows show a couple more varieties of irises that are currently in bloom in Cindy’s garden, with lots more still to come.

😃, wow. !
Thanks, Ted. As you know, my primary focus is usually wildlife, but I will occasionally venture outside my normal “lane.” 🙂
I’m starting to think about a ‘lane change’. (I like that phrase). My back is getting a major overhaul next week, rehab etc. will keep me away from my beloved swamps/marshes for an unknown amount of time. Ellen, of course, will keep me up to date with the critters out there 😂.
Yikes. From what I have heard, backs can take a long while to heal. Maybe you can try shooting macro stuff around the house. Lots of everyday items look really cool when viewed up close.
I’ve been told maybe 6 months, getting my neck fused also. So… not sure what or if I’ll shoot for a while, certainly not out in the boonies. They politely told I should consider something else to do 😂😂😂. I do have all types of critters out the back door, Ellen has been building arbors and feeders for a while. Hawks and Owls are common and the lizards are almost family members…one is staring at me while I type this 😂. I’ll keep in touch 👍
Beautiful jewels
They’re all beautiful, but I absolutely love the first one! What an awesome and artistic composition!
Thanks. I sort of envisioned the shot in my mind and carefully framed it, not quite sure if I could pull it off. The results exceeded my expectations.
Well, you did a fantastic job, both in the planning and the execution. That’s one of the nice thing about flowers. They aren’t going to run away, so you can plan out a shot. I love the wildlife, but flowers and plants can be great fun, too.
Gorgeous! There is something magical about drops of moisture on flower petals. Great shots.
