Wildlife photography is full of uncertainty—there are no guarantees of success. When I go out with my camera, I never know if I will find any subjects to photograph.

I stay alert and almost always something will appear, like this beautiful female Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) that I spotted a week ago at Occoquan Regional Park.

Beauty is everywhere—sometimes you just have to look a little harder to find it.

  Thanks, Michelle. They are among my favorites too–depending on my mood, I find the male more attractive than the female or vice-versa.

Indeed! Never any guarantees when heading out looking for subjects to photograph but I always do find myself concentrating on the ‘search’ which is actually what I am looking for, that disconnect from the busyness of the world into being mindful of the nature surrounding me! Great pic, Mike!
