If one Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is good, two are even better. The challenge with any couple, though, is to get both of them to smile for you and look at the camera. This was the eagle couple’s best pose on Monday morning at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Incredible! This is a really wonderful photo. Also, can those eagles come visit me and tell me kids how to pose and behave for the camera.
Great capture, Mike! How exciting to see the pair together like that.
Thanks. I think, Ellen, that I was holding my breath when I first saw them and started shooting. I think I ended up with over a dozen shots of one of them facing away before I finally was able to get a shot with both of them more or less facing to the front.
Oh, yeah, sometimes we have to remind our selves to breathe while we wait.
Perfect!
Its wonderful to see the two of them! The one in the centre looks well-groomed and noble. The other looks like he/she is having a ‘bad hair’ day. Odd couple!
