One of my favorite summer dragonflies is the tiny Eastern Amberwing (Perithemis tenera). Its distinctive coloration makes it pretty easy to identify, even from a distance.

This is one I’ve been expecting to see any day now. Beautiful background in this shot!
Wonderful shot. Those wings really could be amber.
Your dragonfly/damselfly photos are really terrific, Mike. You’re getting some great backgrounds and poses, and pretty sharp clarity. This is another wonderful one to add to the collection.
Thanks, Sue. Some of my most recent ones, like this one, have an artistic element to them that goes beyond merely recording their presence. I’m spending a lot of time looking for these little beauties and I think my techniques are improving. The simplicity of the composition, the curved lines, and the colors are what makes this image special for me.
Love the gorgeous color and amazing detail…The world is so full of such amazing things.
Thanks, Charlie.
