Yesterday I stopped by the garden of my neighbor and fellow photographer Cindy Dyer. Her early-season tulips were well beyond their prime, but more tulips are getting ready to bloom. I was a little surprised to see that some of her irises are already starting to bloom too. I love to photograph flowers when they are at this stage of growth—they are already beautiful and give hints of the additional beauty that is to come.
Happy Easter to all of you who are celebrating this holy day. Christ is risen!

Χριστός ανέστη Αληθώς ανέστη
Actually, save that for Orthodox Easter, which is Apr 16th.
It’s all Greek to me, but I suspect that it is akin to the Russian “Христос воскрес!” with the response “Воистину воскре воскрес!”(I learned Russian when I was in the Army.) 🙂
You hit the nail on the head! It translates as “Christ is risen;” “Indeed, he is risen.”
I studied Russian language and majored in Russian literature in college, but I am sad to say that I have forgotten 99% of it.
While in the Army, I got a Masters in Russian Area Studies and Georgetown and used Russian often enough in my job that it is still relatively intact, albeit a little rusty.
Happy Easter, Mike!
Thanks, Michelle. Happy Easter to you.
