Did you look up at the moon last night? I think that technically the full moon is tonight, but the moon was bright and spectacular around 8:30 in the evening when I took two steps out of my house and captured this image from my front landing.
I have been particularly pensive this week, a Holy Week that is unlike any other that I have experienced. It is a time when we commemorate suffering and sacrifice done on our behalf out of love. There is a lot of that same suffering and sacrifice taking place all around us right now as collectively we try to deal with this virus. The challenges seem immense, but I felt reassurance when I looked up at that almost full moon last night and thought of some verses from the Psalms (Psalm 8: 3-4 (NIV)).
“When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?”
Stay safe and healthy, all of you.

I too saw the moon last night, huge. Just like the unreal situation we are living in. Take care, stay safe, Mike.
You too, Robert. So many crises are local, but this one is truly global. It is so cool to know that on the other side of the world, you were looking at the same moon, although obviously not at the same time–I think you are about 14 hours ahead of us.
No moon sightings here: only clouds, and then clouds and fog. However, I’m certain the moon still is there. If there’s no glimpse tonight, at least I can look at your photo again.
I think that we are forecast to be clouded over tonight. From what I read, this full moon is a super moon, which I guess means that it is a bit brighter than usual.
Lovely photos and timely thoughts, Mike. You take care, too.
Thanks, Dan. As you have seen over time, my blog postings are often a direct reflection of not only what I am seeing, but also what I am thinking and feeling.
As you know, Mike, I’ve always liked your blog. I think that’s the reason why. I see wonderful photos, and I learn a lot, but I also feel like I know you through this blog. That’s good thing.
I saw it, though cloudy. It’s a pink super moon? And it gives comfort, as do the Psalms. God bless you! Stay well!
Thanks for the info on how special this full moon is. As I recall there are names associated with each full moon, though I can never remember any except for the Harvest Moon. Stay safe and well as we prepare to celebrate Easter in whatever ways we can. (For me it there will be a series of services with Zoom teleconferencing this week.)
Very Nice Mike! I am waiting to photograph the moon tonight! Plus it gives me something to do!
Thanks, Reed. I think we are supposed to be clouded over tonight. Good luck with your shots–I suspect that you will put a bit more preparation than I did. I set my camera to manual exposure, walked out my door and took some shots while leaning against the porch railing. The moon was really bright and I kept dropping the ISO until I finally got an exposure I liked.
I saw that moon. We were driving home after taking some supplies to a woman in our small group who has all the symptoms of Covid 19 and doctor did not test her. Go figure. The moon was a comfort. God is not perplexed by all of this.
We all have to do what we can. I am sure that your friend appreciates your help. I am reminded of the words of Galatians 6:9. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Stay safe and healthy.
Beautiful photo and thoughts, Mike. God bless.
Nice one, Mike!
I did get a few shots last night but there were some clouds and I didn’t get the detail I would have liked. Hope to try again tonight. Yours is beautiful!
We had what probably is our last sail for a while under full moon. A special treat in the middle of a saddening situation.
I can only imagine how beautiful it is to be sailing under a full moon. Wow.
