It seems like people are using cellphones more and more often when they are behind the wheel. Earlier during this trip to Paris I noticed this operator of an excavator along the banks of the Seine checking out his cell phone.
Was he watching a YouTube video on how to operate the machine? Was he stuck in the mud and searching in Google for a solution? Perhaps he was just taking a break. Whatever the case, I kept my distance just in case he started moving in my direction while distracted by his cellphone.
As I struggle to be “artistic” in my photography, I try not to lose sight of the fact that photography is about capturing the moment. Sometimes it is about art, but sometimes it is about simply capturing something that makes me smile.
Have a wonderful day.

Great depth there with the yellow construction crane in the distance, the yellow roller within the ‘arch’ of the excavator AND a reflection in the foreground. Lots of interest there and a pleasing shot!
Wow, thanks, Liz. You really took the time to examine the photo carefully. One of the cool things about digital images is that they save the info on the settings as part of the photo file. I could go back and see exactly what the settings were, but it seems pretty clear that I did not have an aperture setting designed to blur the background–sometimes you want that, but sometimes it is better to try to have as much of the image in focus as you can. 🙂
Heavy equipment always makes me smile, Mike. Distracted drivers are a menace around where we live. I’m so glad “Defensive Driving” was the topic when I took Driver’s Ed.
Nice Mike! It does look like whatever he is looking at it has his attention!
