Raindrops can enhance the beauty of many subjects, like this spider web that I photographed on Friday at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge. As I looked at the drops, they somehow brought to mind an elaborate necklace of loosely strung pearls.

Absolutely, they’re lovely!
That is so beautiful!! Thank you!
We will see lots of this the next three days! Nice shot.
Yes, more rain to come here too. I will probably venture out a bit with my umbrella in one hand and my camera in the other. The rain presents challenges for many types of photography, but opportunities for other types of shots.
COOL!
Great photo Mike. When you photo with an umbrella how much do you have to consider the umbrella’s cloth re casting odd colours over the image?
That’s a great question, Nigel. I use a small black travel umbrella, so I generally don’t have to worry about color casts–mostly I have to worry about shadows and a reduction in the already limited amount of light.
Thanks Mike, I thought you’d use white, as a diffuser. But black makes perfect sense.
I actually do have a white umbrella for photographic purposes, but I am not even sure if it is waterproof. 🙂 Technically it is for studio purposes, but I have never actually done studio work–the thought of taking portraits of people terrifies me.
Amazing photo, Mike!
Thanks, Dan. The image was simple in concept, but a little touch to capture.
Very nice!
Thanks, Robert.
