A breeze was blowing on Saturday morning at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge and this male Halloween Pennant dragonfly (Celithemis eponina) seemed to be struggling to maintain its perch as it was buffeted from side to side.

Nice Mike! Sometimes it definitely a challenge with wind! Especially when they are on the tip of what they are perched on!!
That’s the joy and challenge with the pennants–a lot of other species choose more substantial stalks on which to perch or perch a lot lower.
