The White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) seemed alert but unafraid when they first sensed my presence early one recent morning at Huntley Meadows Park. I watched them graze for a while before they silently faded back into the tree line.

Now I understand the “meadows” part. Great photo!
Thanks, Dan. This particular area is underwater part of the year, but the levels have dropped a bit after a dry June. There are meadows at various locations in the 1500 acre plus park. In some cases, they do controlled burns in the meadows to keep the woods from encroaching and to maintain the habitat for certain species.
Wow. That’s some intense management. A good thing I guess.
Really lovely photo. Another keeper!
Lovely portrait. It doesn’t matter how frequently I encounter deer, it always feels a bit magical.
