I woke up this morning feeling a bit like the beavers in the lodge I photographed yesterday morning at Huntley Meadows Park. They were snug and warm in their little house, surrounded by a world of snow and ice, with plenty of food at hand.
As for me, there is well over a foot of drifted snow on the ground and more is still falling. Eventually I will need to get as busy as the proverbial beaver and remove some of the snow, but for now at least, it’s nice to enjoy it from the comfortable insides of my warm and cozy house.

Stay safe – stay warm Mike.
I’ve found over the years that it’s much easier to shovel twice than it is to do it all at once but if you’re getting light powder it probably won’t be too bad.
I hope it doesn’t end up being as bad as the hype says it might. Take care.
I am the type of guy who likes to shovel multiple times. I’ve been out three or four times already over the last 18 hours or so. I measured with a yardstick and it looks like we have already had 16-18 inches in my neighborhood with more still falling.
Wow. It looks like it might live up to the hype.
Shoveling snow is a great way to meet your neighbors!
That’s a lot of snow to get without having any before. It makes for more than a little exercise. And somehow the beavers avoid all the shovelling.
You are getting some wild weather too, Mike! Enjoy the snow covered landscape from a distance.
Indeed, time for a little hot herbal tea and a good book.
