This is what Huntley Meadows Park looked like this past Friday morning around 6:00, with low hanging mist covering the fields, and the early morning silence broken periodically by the calls of Red-winged Blackbirds.
Normally I am so anxious to take close-up shots that I forget to try to capture the surroundings. This time I remembered and think the shot gives a pretty good idea of the way things felt and looked as the day began.

I love that shot and wish I had it hanging on my wall! It looks a lot like a painting.
Thanks. I tried to use a light hand in processing the image. I did not want to bring our all of the details, because the hazy shadows were part of what made the moment so special.
Beautiful photograph – the composition, the bird, the really cool look the mist gives the greenery. 🙂
Thanks very much. This is not my usual style of photo, but I decided that I wanted to try to capture the moment . The bird was a nice bonus.
Absolutely…I truly feel the ‘place’ – the bird coming in for a landing is such a special touch. I’m amazed at how light it is already by 6:30 am these days here in my area. You really made the most of this time of day.
