Although it is already October and the weather is getting cooler, the local bees have not yet called it quits for the season. I am not sure what kind of purple flower this is, but the bumblebee was busily burrowing its head into its open blossoms.
I was happy to be able to catch the bee in action, capturing an “artsy” image of the moment.

Our bees are hanging on too. They are moving slowly in the cold mornings, but they are visiting anything that is still blooming.

Thanks, Amelia. The shape of the flowers suggested Salvia to me too, but it seems like there are so many different kinds that I didn’t want to hazard a guess. The bee in this photo was probably helping with pollination. I spotted some other bees that were going in from the side of the flower and getting the nectar that way.
The photo is so beautiful…I love the colors. It amazes that even though it is getting colder they are still so active.
Nice shot. I like the background, and I think that’s a salvia too. All I’m seeing are bumble and carpenter bees here now, and they’re moving slowly.
