I photographed this beautiful hellebore flower, sometimes referred to as a Lenten rose, early this Easter morning in the garden of my dear friend and neighbor Cindy Dyer. Have a wonderful Sunday and don’t forget to stop and to look for the beauty that is everywhere around you.

Happy Easter Mike — thank you for bringing us the beauty of nature so many days of the year.
Beautiful. Happy Easter, Michael.
Benjamin and I wish you a very Happy Easter! “Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” – Lady Bird Johnson. Thank-you, Mr. Mike!
The hellebore is very pretty and you’ve captured it beautifully Mike, and your reminder to stop and look for the beauty that is everywhere around us is always timely as it’s *always* great to be reminded of that — thank you!
Thanks, Liz. Hellebores tend to droop downwards when they are blooming, so I made a point of getting as low as I could for this shot. At this time of the year, there is a lot of dirt showing in Cindy’s garden, so I tried to make the shot a little more interesting by including a little of the sky in the background instead of the earth.
Your efforts paid off as the bloom looks lovely! I know how they usually hang down lol. I had to make similar efforts yesterday to get the underside of a toadstool!
What a beautiful way to start your morning!!
Thanks so much. I love to start the day quietly and then ease into the day.
The hellebores were favourites in my garden! Very delicate. In France we called them Christmas Roses.
That is fascinating, Chris. I did a little search and learned that hellebores are know by a whole variety of names including Winter Rose, Christmas Rose, and Lenten Rose. In my are they seem to bloom mostly in later winter and early spring and last quite a while.
How true – it has been a treat to watch nature giving a wonderful display
Amen.
There are a lot of Hellebore around at the moment. I love them.
My friend has a whole of lot of hellebores, some light in color and some dark. I too love them, Sherry.
