This Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) was totally focused on a single remaining berry when I spotted it last Wednesday at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The “prize” seems modest, but this little bird was determined. I believe it was successful in achieving its goal.

Wow, what a shot. its intensity is so easy to appreciate in your photo.
Thanks, Gary. I was taking photos as the bluebird moved in and out of the hanging branches. Many of them turned out blurry and/or the bird was hidden from view. I too was struck by the intensity of the bird’s pose, as contrasted with the more static poses in so many of my bird photos.
Every berry matters. That’s a great shot, Mike.
Oh what a gorgeous photo and bird. Stunning! Thank you Mike.👍🙏
Thanks, Suzette.
A pleasure 🙏
Wonderful photo!
Very nice photograph, Mike!
There is just no blue like that of the bluebird.
That looks like a Virginia creeper berry. Lots of birds eat them but they don’t all wear as beautiful a blue as this one.
Thanks for the info, Allen, on the vegetation. I wondered what it was. Most of the other berries that I have seen the birds eating have been poison ivy berries and I knew that was not what these ones were.
You’re welcome Mike, glad to help!
Nice Mike! Always fun to photograph Bluebirds!
I have to say that I love photographing bluebirds whenever I am lucky enough to spot them.
Another nice Bluebird capture, Mike! Great focus on the bird and those twigs.
