I chuckled when I read this recent posting from one of my faithful followers, Molly Lin Dutina, the author of the blog “Treasures in Plain Sight.” While she was out walking her dog, she stopped to photograph damselflies, a feat that I would never even think of attempting, and thought of me.
Be sure to click though on the “View original post” link to read her entire posting. It is also worth your while to check out her blog for inspiration and to learn more of her delightful adventures in Ohio. Her admiration of my photography, though, does have limits—she is not at all fond of my close-up photos of snakes.
Walking the dog on a trail I had only taken once before on a night walk, I was startled and delighted to see an Ebony Jewelwing Damselfly, I think! I have been following Mr. Powell’s site for quite some time. His photography is amazing.

This photo was taken with my iPhone 8+ and the new dog on a leash in the other hand. I was delighted to capture this. And I immediately thought, “I am playing Mike Powell!”
Then I spotted one I could not photograph as it was too jumpy. It was a delightful almost turquoise. Have no idea what kind of damsel or dragonfly it was. Wished someone else was with me to capture the image.
We left that area and headed back to the car. And voila! There was another sort!

And another shot of same one. I even captured the shadow of it’s wings 🙂

I now tend to think of you whenever I am in awkward position… 😂❤️ Actually, my thighs were burning from excessive squatting on my recent park photography excursion, and I thought of you. 😄💕 You’re not doing it right if it doesn’t start to hurt! 🥨📸
You gotta feel the burn, Laura. 🙂 It is funny how people remember you for different things that you say and do. Your comments really put a smile on my face. Thanks.
☺️ How nice!

You’ve become famous for your skills with the damselflies and dragonflies, Mike — well deserved.
I’m not quite sure, Jet, that I would consider that to be “famous,” perhaps more like “notorious.” 🙂
You are so much fun! Thanks for the reblog. I was afraid I might have offended you with my wording. Glad you liked it. My notifications are blowing up. Certain to keep me busy!
I saw some in Ward Pond Ridge a couple of days ago by the stream.
Wonderful, Sherry. I am always thrilled to find that others are also noticing the small things that surround them.
Thanks. I ran into an old fellow there who was doing a wildlife survey. He recognized me. Probably through Linnaean NY, NYC Audubon, or the NYC Butterfly club. I showed him the snake.
The motivational speaker, Simon Sinek, said : “Always plan for the fact that no plan ever goes according to plan.” That proved to be quite true yesterday for Benjamin and myself. We had already planned to celebrate “Teddy Bear Picnic Day” indoors due to the forecast of rain, which by the way did not arrive at the time the local forecast stated. What was not planned was that Benjamin would be “under the weather”, thus no picnic indoors or out! We also could not make our usual blog rounds and missed this delightful post. Fortunately, I came across it today and will save it for Benjamin’s return on Monday. I have to smile at, Mr. Mike, the mentored becoming the mentor!! Thank-you, Mr. Mike!!
With a little luck, he’ll have the card with the little painting that I sent waiting for him pretty soon too. Hope he is feeling better soon.
