Happy New Year to all of my family and friends. Best wishes for a wonderful 2020, full of fun and adventures.
This is a shot of the colorful little bantam rooster that served as my alarm clock this past weekend. As I sought to photograph him, he climbed atop a woodpile on the front porch of the house and made a short series of vocalizations. As I noted in an earlier posting, I am essentially a city boy, so I have no idea how long and loud a sound has to be for the rooster to be considered to be “crowing.”

When he crows, you’ll know!
I think he likes you, Mike.
I think the full “Cocka-doodle-doo” is a good sign. Happy New Year, Mike.
All critters like admiration. He was just thanking you.
Nice rooster. What defines you as a city boy is taking the time to even think about the true definition of a rooster crow! Is there a defining moment for the rooster? 🙂
Who knows? With a dog, I am more familiar with the range of sounds that one can make, and most of them would not qualify as a bark to me. I tend to be really curious and think about things a lot–not sure that it marks me as a city boy, maybe just an inquisitive one who never grew up. 🙂
That level of inquisitiveness is something to treasure! Now I can truly wish you a happy New Year as I see you’re now into the afternoon of 01 Jan. Did you see in the New Year?
Have a Happy New Year!
