We had crazy weather yesterday, with two big rainstorms, intermittent blue skies, and thunder and lightning. The biggest surprise for me, though, was a hailstorm that dropped a coating of pea-sized hailstones everywhere.
There was such an accumulation of hail that in the first photo it looks almost like snow had fallen on the outdoor seating of the cafe. When I arrived at my apartment, however, I examined the small table on the balcony of “my” apartment up close and could see the individual, spherical hailstones. Wow!
I carefully tried to avoid the patches of hailstorms when walking after I nearly fell—hailstones on cobblestones are a treacherous mix.

Wonderful pictures. Hailstones in Paris! Really!?!
It was definitely a surprise when all hail broke loose. 🙂
haha
Heavens.. just the other day you were showing us wine, bread and cheese on your table. Now its hail! Do take care but thanks for your regular posts – they’re awesome 🙂
My umbrella is my constant companion and I have taken to wearing a raincoat at all times. I managed to take shelter under one of the passageways of the Louvre Museum when the hail was falling, though I did get drenched twice earlier in the day.
Sounds like Southland sans Louvre, hehe!
That close up of the hail stones is amazing! We all stopped worked and spent 5 minutes just sleazing our the window! It was indeed dramatic
I love your second image of nothing but hailstones!
The hail you say. It’s kind of cool stuff…until you find a bunch of dents on your car hood.
It’s amazing how big hailstones can get. My son, who is stationed with the Army in Colorado, had his truck declared a total loss because of hail damage and he drove a Ford F-150!
Wow, is it very chilly there now? Or was it just an upper atmosphere thing?
It’s been in the lower to mid 40’s mostly. I think it was a violent collision of fronts, or something like that.
Makes me want to warm up with a cafe au lait and a delicious French pastry. 🙂
For me, I think it will be French onion soup in the near future.
I loved the cafes of Paris!
Wow! I love how you take it in your stride. Be careful!
