All of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées was blocked off today to permit French President Macron unimpeded access to the Arc de Triomphe, where he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and made a speech in honor of Armistice Day. I did not make it all of the way down to the Arc de Triomphe, but captured a few photos of the ceremonial guards as they made their way past my vantage point on the Champs-Élysées.

I am sure it is an even more emotional; day there. Until 9/11 we had never really known a foreign attack on our own soil (although one could say the war for Independence qualifies) but their country has been wracked by war more than once and destroyed as a result.
The tricolor in the center of the Arch is a very moving image.
It must have been quite a stirring event, the color guard particularly. The sweep up to Arc is a nice shot. Tres bien!
It was quite impressive, with a band mounted on horseback. I am not sure how the horses liked having trumpets and drums played by riders. It looked like everyone was on horseback on on motorcyles–maybe the cavalry. I took the shot looking up toward the Arc from just off the Place de la Concorde. The telephoto lens compressed the distance a bit and makes the Arc look a little closer than it was.
