Photography seems so complicated when I worry too much about lighting, camera settings, and a myriad of other technical concerns. It’s nice sometimes to put those cares in the back of my mind and just shoot as I did yesterday—me, my camera, a bee, and a flower.
It can be that simple and that enjoyable.

I always find simple is best – me, my camera & nature 🙂
Amazing shot. It can get complicated when you try to do too much and worry about aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. Sometimes instinct trumps all the technical considerations.
Thanks. I totally agree about the role of instinct. Practice helps a lot too and I try to shoot often enough so that I can make certain shooting decisions without consciously thinking about them.
I concur. Practise helps to develop your muscle memory which is what most proficient craftsmen use whether they are musicians, sculptors, artists, and the likes. It becomes almost like a reflex action but it is borne out of repetition and practice.
I notice the effect of practice most when I am trying to track birds in flight. I have to react quickly and instinctively sometimes and at the beginning of the bird season, I can tell that I am rusty.
I love it when we get “in the zone”… just thoroughly enjoying what we see through our lens!
Amen to that. Worrying about the right co position all the time can take the joy out of the whole process.
I think we overcomplicate many things, photography included. I like to just let it happen and I’m often surprised by the results.
I agree, sometimes photographers become so obsessed about settings, they forget to enjoy what they are seeing in front of them. I love your photograph
And often times they turn out the best!
