Early this morning, it was really cold and windy and most of the birds and animals showed great common sense in staying in sheltered spots. This little sparrow, however, seemed to be having a good time hopping, skipping, and skating across the frozen pond.

If you ever have trouble identifying birds in your pictures, the folks at Wild Bird Center on Duke Street, across from Washington Square, just this side of Old Town, are very knowledgeable and have lots of resources for helping you identify your photos. Heck, they might even be interested in buying them. You never know. I worked in a WBC in NJ for a little over a year after 9/11. It was a great experience. I love birds!
