Perched dragonfly

Yesterday was warm and humid, which felt almost like summer here and brought out more dragonflies.

The sun was a little harsh just before noon, but I couldn’t help chasing after the dragonflies and got this shot of a male Common Whitetail dragonfly (Plathemis lydia).

  Thanks. I am so happy to be able to do some insect shots that I decided to post this one, even if some aspects of it are not the greatest. I do like the way the wings came out.

Dragonflies have to be amazingly difficult to photograph. I can’t imagine how much patience was needed to capture this image.

  Thanks. I love dragonflies and agree that they really do have an alien look to them, especially when viewed head-on.
