Birders in my area are starting to get really excited because it is warbler season. In theory, that means there will be all kinds of birds around with varying patterns of yellow. I have very little experience with spring warblers, but suspect that many of the warblers will hang out at the top of the trees and will be tough to photograph. In past years I have concentrated on ducks at this time of the year, but I think I may try to devote some attention to warblers this spring.
On a totally unrelated note, I spotted some Common Green Darner dragonflies yesterday, the first dragonflies that I have seen this season. Hopefully it won’t be too long before dragonfly photos show up in a posting.
Happy Easter to all those who are celebrating Easter today.

Good luck with the warblers Mike, they are a real pain to image. Looking forward to the dragons, spring here is not happening.
Very pretty photo!
A welcome sign of spring. Happy Easter Mike. Enjoy the day.
I’ve seen more damselflies in the past week, but yesterday I saw my first dragonfly. While you’re trying to capture warblers, I’m going to devote some time to capturing the dragonflies — clearly not an easy task! Happy Easter to you.
If you want a really fun challenge, try to capture a shot of a dragonfly in flight. Some of them hover a little, which makes it a tiny bit easier, but it’s still very difficult. 🙂
My family celebrated Easter at my Son’s house in Massachusetts. His home is behind a park in a very beautiful tree filled area. He has bird feeders and houses of all kinds in the trees surrounding the house. Red squirrels and even a black one come and share the feasting, plus chipmunks and other wildlife. Benjamin was telling everyone about “the birds that Mr. Mike teaches him about”! “The Oprys, Pipit, Orange Bluebirds” and others. He told about the “bands” that the birds wear too. My Son asked him : “Who is Mr. Mike?” and Benjamin said : “He is my friend, he knows everything about birds!” Hope your day was as enjoyable as ours. Thank-you, Mr. Mike!! P.S. Benjamin will love adding this Warbler to his list!
Happy Easter. You never fail to bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye when you mention Benjamin. In many ways I try to bring my sense of curiosity and wonder to my blog in a way that I hope is contagious and it is a good sign if I am able to maintain the interest of a 4 year old.
You did really well Mike, I find little birds like impossible.
Thanks, Leanne. My only “secret” for this shot was a lot of patience and the monopod that I have been using all this winter. The monpod is tall enough that I was able to comfortably look almost straight up as I scanned the pine boughs high in the trees and then stay steady when I caught a glimpse of the bird. This was really important because I was shooting at the far end of my 150-600mm lens (on a crop sensor DSLR).
