Earlier this week I came across this little Jumping spider, patiently waiting for a prey to come by. I never fail to be amazed by those eyes that seemed to be staring right at me.
Transfixed, I can’t take my eyes off of you, tiny spider, and your eyes seem to follow me. I don’t want to seem paranoid, but when I am with you, I always feel like somebody is watching me.
Somehow I thought I heard the spider humming, “I only have eyes for you,” but it was just my imagination, running away with me.

Marvellous capture!
Thanks, Victor. I am happy this came out as well as it did–the position that I was in wouldn’t permit me to use a tripod and using flash produced some really bad reflections, so I ended up shooting handheld with existing light.
Even more amazing!
That is a great capture. Thank goodness they aren’t the size of dogs.
Indeed. I have similar thoughts about a number of the insects that I have photographed, which look or act in a terrifying way. Giant insects seemed to be a staple of horror movies at one time, like Mothra or any number of spiders.

Lovely picture Mike!!!
Mike, this is so cool. Reading your blog made me take a different approach to my walk the other day. I tried to stop and notice the smaller things I often pass in pursuit of larger fauna. Great stuff, I really enjoyed. Btw on my post ducksong, I gave you a shout-out on one of the first images 😛
I love these little spiders, but I never really paid them much attention until I saw them here. Now I’ve got “Just My Imagination” running through my head.
Like you did with the rabbit tobacco, I like to put jokes or song titles in some of my posts to see if anyone catches them. Obviously you caught at least one of the song titles.
Got to love them! Beautiful shot, Mike. Do you have any images of its dorsal aspect, showing the details on its back? My daughter and I might be able to help with an ID. If we keep our eyes open to these opportunities, sometimes it’s just too good to be true!
Thanks, Gary. I do have some images of the back side, but am travelling this week, so don’t have access to them. I’ll see what I have and will send them to you via e-mail when I return next Sunday.
