Wait a minute, that’s not a rose! You got me there, but raindrops on flowers are still one of my favorite things. Can I help it if I love “The Sound of Music?” The word “raindrops” immediately conjures up visions of Julie Andrews singing “My Favorite Things,” including “raindrops on roses.”
This photo is a couple of months old but is intended to be a response to the rainy weather we are finally having. It is also a response to Another Perspective Photography’s posting asserting that she is not a bug photographer.
I am proud to state that I am a bug photographer who often shoots other elements of nature and only occasionally photographs people. That may change, but for the moment it’s where my interests lead me. This photo, however, is intended to be evidence that I am not “just”a bug photographer.

Very pretty
I never said “just” a bug photographer…lol. It’s very hard. Even toddlers stay more still than dragonflies. I just meant that my last several posts have been about BUGS… but the purpose of my blog started out to promote my photography business which is about people…. so if I was wandering by my blog today, I’d never know that I could hire me as a people photographer… Of course, I have a short attention span, and I’m easily distracted by colourful shiny things – and reading a few others blogs with AWESOME bug pictures got me obsessed…. a fact noted by one of my offline friends.
My title was a direct quote from something I said to her while squatting down beside a rosebush to get a picture of a beetle…. one of about 100 or so bug pictures I’ve taken this week (most not good enough to share!!!)
Don’t worry. I was just having a little fun and wasn’t making any kind of commentary. There are so many cool things that we can photograph that we should try to do it all.
would you like a laugh at my expense…? I didn’t even notice this post was YOU… because this exaclty is what came up in notifications:
” Raindrops on roses… … commented on your post “I am NOT a bug photographer “.
So when I read the blog QUICKLY (short attention span) I thought it was a blogger named “RAINDROPS ON ROSES”. and that’s why the long explanation. Of course, knowing it’s YOU it all makes SENSE now. You of course already knew the context. I just thought I’d suddenly offended the sensibilities of all the bug photographers around the world, including this raindrops person. UGH. and your name is RIGHT THERE. I just thought you were another “like” on the raindrops blog… UGH. double UGH.
This is why nobody questions if my hair is naturally blonde.
Also, I forgot to say, I ADORE photos of water droplets. This is a lovely picture.
