The light was so beautiful early this morning at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge that it looked like this male Bufflehead duck (Bucephala albeola) was swimming in the clouds rather than in the water, giving this image an almost surreal feel that I really enjoy.

Quite beautiful
For a minute I thought it was a Loon, but then I spotted the white on the back of its neck. I use to see a lot of Loons on Raquette Lake in upstate New York.
Loons are on the list of birds that I would like to see–I think that I need to travel a bit further north to see them.
We saw them fairly frequently in the Adirondacks. Always loved to hear their call at night.
You are amazing!
Thanks for the wonderful words of encouragment.
You’re welcome! Keep it up!
