Early this morning the skies over Huntley Meadows Park were glowing red, adding a beautiful pinkish tinge to the icy landscape. The calm before the storm.
Weather forecasters predict that the Washington D.C. metropolitan area will be hit with a major blizzard starting later today, with a total snow accumulation of two feet (61 cm) or more. The area will undoubtedly be paralyzed for at least several days.

Good luck weathering the storm Mike.
Thanks, Dan. As long as I don’t lose power, I think I should be ok. I drive a KIA Soul and know better than to try to drive in the snow, especially if we get as much as predicted–so far only a few inches, but the storm hasn’t really started.
My wife drives a Soul. She loves that car but yeah, not I’d take it in the snow.
Cup of tea and a good book or binge watch a t.v. show. That should do the trick.. 🙂
Beautiful photo. Stay safe!
I am so grateful to see so many people taking this storm seriously.
Lovely picture. I enjoy your pictures an blog. Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome. When I started getting really into taking nature photos, one of my friends pressured me to start a blog. I have found the blog to be a wonderful creative outlet for both my photos and my writing.
Stay cosy! We are all bunkered up and hunkered down here in the Philly ‘burbs too. No work or school means we can just stay home and enjoy family time. So long as there’s no power outage, we are good. Of course, my brother-in-law was supposed to be flying in from London tomorrow so his flight is cancelled and postponed but that’s our only hassle.
Stay safe and warm, Mike. I’ll keep you in my thoughts. Your photo is beautiful. I’m sure you will have many more to share after this big storm has left your area!
Stay safe and stay inside!
Be safe, but enjoy the beautiful views of snow and ice.
Wishing you all the best in the blizzard Mike. Go well and God bless
