Despite the light rain, a few birds were flying about at Huntley Meadows Park yesterday morning. It was beautiful and peaceful, a feeling that I was able to partially capture in this image of one of my rainy day feathered friends, an Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe).

That’s an excellent portrait of that little bird.
I hope you don’t get any of the rain they’re seeing in the Carolinas.
great photo mike! What a cool bird!
That is a beautiful composition and a lovely soft light to set it off. I seem to always need bright light to get something I am satisfied with. Amelia
Thanks so much. I wasn’t sure at the time that there was enough light to get a decent shot, but I fired away and was pleased with the results. There are certain kinds of shots that absolutely require bright light, but others, like this one, that capture the feeling of the moment can be done in almost any light.
Absolutely beautiful shot.
Thanks. It’s a simple shot that came out well.
I always enjoy the composition and your great use of lighting in your images.
Thanks, Charlie. The soft light was a consequence of the heavily clouded condition and I was thrilled that I was able to get some shots of the few birds that were active–most were taking shelter in the trees.
Sweet pose, so demure – lovely shot!!
Thanks so much. There is nothing really special about the image, but it seems to work–there is a true beauty in its simplicity, I think.
I agree, and you exemplified that well here.
