The weather has not been very cooperative and outdoors there are not yet many flowers blooming. Yesterday I went to the US Botanic Garden in Washington D.C. to get my “fix” of flowers in a more temperate setting. Among the many beautiful flowers that I observed was this Madeira Cranesbill geranium (Geranium maderense).

What a pretty color. I like the fuzzy stems.
Thanks, Sue. Trying to isolate a portion of a whole bunch of these flowers was an interesting challenge. There were so many people in the indoor gardens that it would not have been possible to use a tripod, do handheld macro shots were the order of the day.
Very pretty! I think there are many of us who could do with a similar fix about now!
Beautiful…Delicate and intense at the same time.
Gorgeous photo, Mike! Composition, settings, color! Just gorgeous.
Thanks, Judy. This was one of the rare cases when I looked at the LCD screen after I took the shot and knew it was one that i would like.
Beautiful, Mike.
So glad you shared this brilliant moment from your trip – what a wonderful composition!
Thanks. It’s great to get back in the swing of shooting macro. It gives me a bit more latitude to think about composition, which I rarely do when photographing birds during the colder months.
Lovely
