Soaring high above the earth, this Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) seemed to be relaxing, enjoying a moment of peace before getting back to the pressing job of rebuilding the nest.

Wonderful – you must have a really good lens
The lens that I use is a Canon 70-300mm lens (on a Canon 50D body). Compared with some of the bird photographers that I see, that’s pretty modest gear. In this case, it was more a factor of patience and good light than a great lens.
Nice shot!
Beautiful shot.
Thanks. I was fortunate to be in a spot where I had a wonderful angle from which to photograph the osprey.
Wonderful shot. You just showed that there’s a lot more to photography than great gear.
Thanks,Lyle. I feel so much more comfortable with my camera equipment than I did a year ago and I think that has helped me take better advantage of my photo opportunities. However, I still love to read about newer gear and plan to gradually improve my setup.
I haven’t seen them here yet, but I know they will be here soon. This is a nice flight photo with some good detail in the head!
