Whenever I am at my local marsh at sunset, I am alert for ducks and geese in the air. I have a goal of catching them in silhouette against the backdrop of the colorful sky. I still haven’t gotten the shot I am looking for, but here is one of my recent attempts.

Just beautiful!
pretty good attempt then!!!
Thanks. I like the way that this one turned out, but I’ll keep shooting in homes of a better image.
Your composition keeps the eyes going around and around, back and forth.
Beautiful photo. Keep taking shots, and you’ll get just the one you want!
Thanks. That’s exactly my approach. With this kind of shot, you never quite know when you will capture “the one.”
Really wonderful photo, Mike!
The trouble is, even when you get “the one” you immediately wonder if you couldn’t do better, but that’s part of what makes it so much fun for me.
I think that what drives many of us to take photos is to capture beauty and when we do so outdoors, there’s always a sense that it could be different and better (i.e. different light, pose, angle, or background). It’s not like I can say that I can stopping taking photos of a particular bird, for example, just because I have gotten good shots of it.
