Orchestral conductors tend to be flamboyant characters and that is exactly what came to mind when I first say this image of a female Mallard Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) with fully outstretched wings. She seems to be conducting an unseen duck orchestra creating what some might call music and other would characterize as a quackonophy.

Well played.
Thanks. I have an irresistible urge to make puns and work plays–sometimes I just can’t help myself.
Great capture Mike 😀
Thanks. I suspected that you might also appreciate my attempts at humor.
I never let a bit of humour go! 😀
She has some beautiful colors that are worth showing off.
It’s always nice when you get to see all of those colors (which remain hidden most of the time). It’s one of the joys of capturing birds in flight or in motion.
Superb action – such a commonplace duck but this takes it out of the ordinary
Love your sense of humor. Mallards may be common around here, but they are gorgeous birds.
Thanks. My humor is a little warped, but it gave me a different angle to present the mallard shot. I love shooting the common subjects and try to get folks to look at them again by presenting them differently.
This is an awesome angle.
Thanks. Sometimes if’s neat to shoot for fun and get odd angles and perspectives hat violate the rules (like having the eyes in focus all of the time).
Love the concept!
