Do you still look at the clouds and see shapes as you did when you were a child? Sometimes the shadows and light and my imagination combine and cause me to see new things, like the leaves in this ginkgo tree that remind me of a flock of bright yellow butterflies.
Ginkgo trees are endlessly fascinating for me. Check out my earlier posting to see additional photos of my journey to a ginkgo grove a few weeks ago, including some close-up shots of ginkgo leaves and the fleshy seeds produced by the female ginkgo trees.

Butterflies . . . you’re so right! I didn’t see it till you described them (the gingko leaves) that way. Nice photograph, too, with striking contrasts between yellow and blue, light and shadow.
Thanks. The colors seemed particularly intense that day and I was happy that I was able to capture them (and my imaginary butterflies).
Now that you mention it, they do look like butterflies. I like the colors.
I love ginkgo trees, revel in them at all times of the year but especially in the golden days. I never thought of the leaves as butterflies and thank you for this image.
