What does the world look like when viewed through the eyes of a young child? I imagine that it is just as magical as the colorful soap bubbles that six year old Isaac had me chasing this past weekend at a church retreat at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, VA. For a few carefree moments, I felt like a child again and was able to experience a sense of joy and freedom.
Sometimes I think we make our lives too complicated and buy into the notion that happiness comes through the acquisition of more “stuff.” This experience reminded me of the value of simple, childlike pleasures.

I clicked to see the large version and just went all quiet inside – I was so entranced with the landscape caught on the bubble. I can’t even find the words to tell you how much I was touched by this captivating image… very, VERY well done Mike, it’s truly remarkable!
What a beautiful bubble! I live this simplex, complex inage.
Thanks, Nina. I took my hand at blowing bubbles too–I couldn’t resist when the kids asked me if I wanted a turn.
Great post 😁
Thanks. It was fun dreaming up a story to go with the photo.
That’s a beautiful photo, Mike and a wonderful thought.
Thanks, Dan. When the kids had me chasing bubbles with my camera, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to focus on one. The results went way beyond my wildest expectations–I am not sure I could duplicate that kind of shot no matter how hard I tried.
Amen!
I’m trying to find your reflection in the bubble!
I don’t think that I managed to get into the reflection, but I’ll have to look a little closer and see. 🙂
Hey Mike! Can I please use your amazing bubble photo to illustrate living in a “bubble”? – I’m explaining NZ response to covid-19. Pls let me know, ta 🙂
Feel free to use the bubble shot, Liz. I remember how much fun it was capturing that shot as a little boy was blowing the bubbles and laughing as I chased them.
Thanks so much Mike, I’ve just posted it: https://exploringcolour.wordpress.com/2020/04/02/stay-in-your-bubble/
