Yesterday I bought a round trip ticket on the Laben Bergbahn, a small mountain cable car in Oberammergau, Germany that took us quickly from 900m to 1684 meters. Some folks, however, bought a one-way ticket up the mountain and used an alternative mode of transportation to come down.
I am not sure if I am courageous or crazy enough to jump off a mountain like that and paraglide to the bottom.

I think there would have to be just a little crazy involved! Very pretty views.
Nice shots. I have done some paragliding multiple times and can only recommend this fantastic experience! Really feels like freedom, up there in the sky and it is actually pretty smooth. Maybe one day? Have a great weekend! Marcella
Thanks, Marcella, for sharing your experience. I think I would need to go through the training to see if it is something that I could handle. The idea of soaring through the air definitely appeals to me, but I think a hot air ballon might be more suitable for me.
Or you can join a tandem flight one day to see if you feel comfortable. Funny, to me a hot air balloon seems so much scarier as it is tougher to manoeuvre (I actually would not dare). I will be looking forward to your post of either of them in the future 😉
Looks lovely, but I don’t think I would be brave enough to do it!
Very pretty pictures, but I’ll stick with the round-trip ticket.
Daunting trip down the slopes. Looks exciting but no thanks. MZ
No thanks for me too. 🙂
I’ve done a jump from a low level rather than a high level. The hard part was that you have to run fast to get airborne otherwise you kinda collapse in an untidy mess and have to start over. We were allowed two or three tries. I totally messed up my first attempt and panicked I’d never make it (I’ve always been useless at running). The second time I went all out and managed to get airborne. Its really amazing once you’re in the air!
Definitely not my style either!
You should try a tandem flight one day Mike! I used to paraglide for many years before sailing took over in a big way. Great perspective and feeling of being a bird!
Such wonderful photos, Michael — big, open vistas and snowy landscapes of Germany. Danke.
Thanks, Jet. I was fortunate that we finished work early that day and had the chance to ride up the mountain on a beautifully sunny day. Earlier in the week we had had several overcast days when it snowed all day.
Not me! Would be hard to just take the round trip ticket!!
