When you have as many little ones as this Canada Goose family (Branta canadensis), you have to take roll call almost all of the time to make sure that everyone stays safely together.
I was trying to focus on the group of goslings that were following the adult when the adult abruptly stopped and turned around. The little ones drifted forward and I ended up with this shot. I love the way that the attentive parent is almost at eye level with the cute little babies and has its neck almost fully extended.

That’s a very cute capture. It’s always interesting to see the interactions between the little ones and their parents
Thanks. Babies are always so cute. I really like the fact that both geese parents look after the young. With some of the duck families, the responsibility falls solely onto the Mom.
Awww that is so cute…. love the fluffy little babies. Swans are the same. .. both parents are involved in rearing the little cygnets. I can remember going to Sheffield Park Gardens and a massive warning sign not to approach the swans. .. and dad was very protective of the mum and her little cygnets. Of course you get the idiot that thinks they know better… I have never seen someone run so fast as this idiot did. I roared with laughter at this Swan chasing him and trying its hardest to latch onto this bloke’s rear.
Great shot Mike, and perfect panoramic format too!
Thanks Chris. Given the way the baby geese were spread out, it was pretty easy to decide to do a panoramic crop.
Love it!
