Happy Easter 2016

Happy Easter (and best wishes to those not celebrating this holiday). This has been a really busy and special Holy Week for me and I am getting ready now to go to a sunrise Easter service.

I spotted this pretty little Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) yesterday during a daylong trek around Huntley Meadows Park.

  Thanks, Lyle. We were few in number at our sunrise service, but continues to be one of my favorite services of the year. One unexpected highlight this year was being buzzed by a pair of Canada Geese that landed nearby.

Happy Easter, Mike! As I’m sure I told you, I have never been fortunate to get as good a shot of a bluebird as yours. In my experience, bluebirds are skittish. I end up taking one of those distant shots that makes me think the bird is in a galaxy far, far away!

  Thanks, Walter. I hope you had a wonderful Easter Day. I was very fortunate while trekking about on Saturday to have this bluebird land nearby when I was in an open field.

  Thanks, Chris. The color of the bluebird in good light is so intense that it looks almost tropical.
