This morning I spotted a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) in a tree a my local marshland park, not far from where I had previously seen one. Once again, the eagle reacted more quickly than I did and took off before I was completely ready. This time, however, I was able to more quickly track the flying eagle and got a better shot than last time. I’m still not fully satisfied with the sharpness of this image, but I continue to believe that any day that I see an eagle is a great day.

SO MUCH WIN!!! Great capture man!
Thanks. I am happy with the shot, but hope to get an even better one in the future.
Good shot , Mike !

Thanks. I was fortunate that the eagle didn’t just fly off and chose instead to fly across my field of view.
That’s a great snag. You’re right , anytime you see one of those beauties, you’re having a good day.
That’s a far better photo than any I have of an eagle, which number exactly zero. I probably would have dropped my camera. I’ve found that it takes a certain presence of mind to get shots like this and I usually just stand there, awestruck. Well done!
Isn’t that the way it is? I have yet to take a bird in flight and think that it’s plenty sharp. The striving for the next few sharper feathers makes us all so much better in the long game.
At a minimum, that desire for better shots motivates me enough to keep going out with my camera and keeps my hopes alive that I’ll continue to improve.
I’ll say it’s a great day when you see an eagle! I am so envious. It’s a good shot too even if slightly out of focus.
It’s a pity wildlife doesn’t play nicely when it come to us taking photos isn’t it?
You have to be a little crazy to photograph wildlife, because you never know for sure what you will see or how long a subject will hang around. Sometimes, though, things come together and that makes it worthwhile.
