Blue heron, blue sky, blue water

The lighting was breathtakingly beautiful and the reflections were amazing when I caught sight of this Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) late last month at my local marsh. The heron was close enough that the 100mm macro lens that i had on my camera was the perfect lens for a portrait of this beautiful bird.

  Thanks. I see Great Blue Herons fairly often, but usually not at so close a range and almost never with such good lighting.

I saw a great blue heron yesterday, but he was across a pond and my lens was zoomed about as far as it could go to get a shot of him. I love the colors in this one!
