Definitely not a tulip tree, but nice shots.
Thanks. I did a little more research on the tree and think it probably is a tree called Magnolia lilliflora that is know by lots of names including Red Magnolia and Tulip Magnolia.
Yep, looks like a Japanese magnolia to me (M. liliiflora), just a darker pink that usual.
