Most of the time when I try to photograph ducks in flight, I end up with shadows and muted colors. Last weekend, though, the light was right and I was able to capture a small group of mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) in full color. They were pretty far away, but I like the formation that I was able to capture. There are four males and one female, and one of the males is a straggler who seems to have trouble keeping up with the group.

Wow! That is pretty!
Nice shot. My eyes are always on the ground so I don’t see too many ducks in flight. Plenty of geese though, because they are so noisy.
It’s often the odd formations that are the most interesting. I have often noticed some misalignment and taken a few of those photos too! Good colours.

Geese and ducks are no longer exotic to me, but I still enjoy photographing them whenever I can, especially when they are in the air.
