After a series of dreary days this week, I feel the need for some brighter, more cheerful colors. Here are a couple of shots of a Yellow Warbler (Setophaga petechia) that I spotted on Monday at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge. A lot of warblers have yellow on their bodies and have long, complicated names, but this one is known simply as a “Yellow Warbler”—a straightforward name for a beautiful little bird.

Thank you, we’ve had no end of dreary days here and I also enjoy your little ray-of-sunshine bird. Following our earlier chat about art, I happened to find an ad for a small commercial office space, for lease, and I think it just might be affordable. I have this dream of having my own space in which to try my hand at art. I don’t do any at present and I have no training, just something I’d like to have a go at! I felt inspired by what you’d told me earlier 🙂 Thanks for that chat!
There’s a bright little fellow!
Benjamin likes the name Yellow Warbler : “He is yellow like a yummy banana.” He peered closely at both enlarged photos, picking out the buds on the foliage and thorns on the branch. Of the second photo he said : “I think he will build a nest with that stick he is carrying.” Thank-you, Mr. Mike!!
Lovely captures of this beauty in amongst the greenery, Mike.
