I was facing almost directly east in the early morning hours at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the colors of the rising sun filtering through the trees made it look like the woods were ablaze. Fortunately, they were not.

What a glorious sight, first thing in the morning!
It is pretty amazing. I tend to be a morning person and don’t mind getting up. This particular wildlife refuge has an automatic gate that doesn’t open until 7:00 in the morning, which makes it tough to get in there by sunrise at certain times of the year.
I love it when that happens. Nice shot!
Thanks, Allen. I am not out as much as I would like in the early morning hours and this reminds me of what I am missing on the other days.
It seriously does look like it. Really wonderful shot 🙂
Thanks so much. There is a very brief period at sunrise when the light is often very orange, and that was what I was lucky enough to capture.
That really does look like fire. How extraordinarily gorgeous.
really nice shot!
Thanks so much. I was very happy to be able to capture the feeling of those moments.
Quite the orange glow, at first I thought it was a fire.
It sure looked that way as the light streamed in through the trees, but it was just after sunrise and I knew that it was only the orange glow of early morning.
