Freezing rain has blanketed Brussels today, making footing treacherous, especially on the cobblestones in the center of the city. Needless to say, the outdoor cafes are not doing much business on a day like today.
I am in Brussels this week for work, so the photos that I post on this blog will be a bit different from my typical wildlife shots.

Well, how about that? There was freezing rain in Houston yesterday — at least, in the northern suburbs. There must be quite a system over there right now. Istanbul got heavy snow, too. It’s amazing to watch the systems move around the globe.
I’m always amazed by the weather, especially during transitional periods. In Northern Virginia where I live, December is such a season–we had days where the high was in the teens and days when the high was above 70. By January, though, we are gradually settling in to a period of cold, gray days mostly.
