It’s hard for me to imagine life on a farm, having spent most of my life in the suburbs. I consider myself lucky to be able to distinguish a cow from a horse, but don’t ask me to tell a llama from an alpaca.
I got a little taste of farm life on Christmas Eve day when I accompanied a family member as she went about accomplishing a seemingly endless list of chores associated with the care of the farm animals.
Here are some of the fascinating faces of the farm that I encountered that day.

They’re all beautiful but especially that blonde horse!
I fell in love with that horse, Allen. That blonde hair is amazing and gives the horse the look of a rock star.
Living in farm country as I do in northern NY, I’m fortunate to see animals similar to these on a daily basis. I must admit, though, that your families cows are amazing!! Here we have almost exclusively dairy cattle – the black and white Holstein’s. People also raise Black Angus for beef purposes, but I’ve still never seen one as big as those you picture. Do you know what breed those cows are? I’ve never seen them before – they are immense!! Wonderful photo’s, Mike, and quite a switch for you 🙂 . I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to the New Year to see what your camera will capture!
